Since 1996 it is a full 18-hole golf course and this is the most successful expansion of the recent coast designs. The first nine are shorter and more complicated than the back nine, which are flatter and have wider fairways.

They used 419 tiff way Bermuda grass (the same used in Augusta National, venue of the Masters) on the fairways to ensure the good quality of these.

Torrequebrada

Par72
6,352 Metres
Opened in 1976

"Why move earth when a golf course should follow the natural contours?" was the philosophy of Pepe Gancedo, when he designed Torrequebrada.

Not surprisingly the course is tortuous, but the panoramic views varies at each hole make up for the undulating terrain.

In the autumn of 1997 Valderrama became the first golf course in the world to stage the Ryder Cup outside its traditional homelands.

Ballesteros, the Europe captain declared: "I found everything absolutely perfect. It's impossible to find a golf course in better condition".

This is as true today as it was in 1997.
